Supercharging both the efforts of early adopters as well as the uptake of the same intelligent, cloud based technologies by desktop loving clients (in 2020).

The Opportunity

Uplift the experience created by the fast moving, early adopters (that can be impacted by unintended consequences) as well as creating a pathway for those yet to embrace the changes.

As Australia’s leading developer of compliance software solutions, BGL has always been at the forefront of the financial accounting industry when it comes to product innovation and customer experience. BGL is regularly awarded in the top 5 Australian companies by the Australian Financial Review for technology innovation and places to work. While there was significant adoption of their products with ‘early adopters’, many in the financial accounting world were well and truly committed to the past ways of working. Also while quick to adopt the new technologies, the early adopters hadn’t yet grasped the opportunity to act thoughtfully and strategically about the people impacts from these productivity boosting, ground breaking compliance software products. People were leaving the industry due to their leaders lack of foresight, engagement, clarity and planning for future revenue increasing opportunities. The leaders at BGL could see the opportunity to lead their industry in a way that created better people experiences overall as well as better business opportunities for their clients.

The Solution

In consultation with the BGL Executive team (and other key members of the leadership team), we quickly identified opportunities for them to ‘value add’ by engaging their clients in a more holistic approach of Humans and Intelligent Tech. We covered 2 key areas:

Leading humans

Firstly we worked with the BGL leaders to uplift their understanding of how our brains work in change, as well what is expected of them as a leader.

Then we moved to building an understanding of "How" to facilitate behaviour change - with the importance of smart, tailored engagement approaches that support people to be curious about the BGL intelligent products at the same time as thinking about the evolution of the human work within their business and industry.

Uplift the clients

Next we ran client education sessions and a keynote at RegTech (BGL’s client conference for it’s 9,500 customer base). These sessions were designed to provide tailored resources (checklists and quick reference guides) to help the BGL clients lead their business through change (such as upgrading their systems).

Our goal was to empower the BGL clients, directly, so they could feel confident that they had the skills to lead  the changes in their own business enabling them to better leverage AI and elevate the performance of their people.

The Impact

The BGL team felt a higher level of knowledge, confidence and effectiveness when it came to leading change both within their business and with their clients.

They saw increased adoption of BGL Cloud based solutions by previously reluctant clients who now had a roadmap for change in their business that supported their teams to be involved.

As part of the BGL ecosystem we were then approached by Xero and Clarity Street to participate in their client education programs focused on similar challenges for human and intelligent technology adoption and change leadership by their client challenges.

“What I truly appreciate, is the understanding of teams and individual behaviours.  An understanding of both is essential to execute successful change. Its important to be able to speak to both with confidence, relevance and backed by the relevant science and research. An ability to simply identify and explain patterns and resistance to change, at both a team and individual level, allows for great discussions and ultimately outcomes."
